thank you everyone for participating!
Second ANNOUNCEMENT
Pre-registration for people requesting financial support has now ended. We thank everyone that has signed up so far. Given the limited funding, a selection will be conducted in the next days following the priorities indicated in the first announcement (grad students, early-career researchers, those working with Gemini data).
Pre-registration is still open for both the meeting and the workshop until August 7, albeit no financial support can be requested at this point. Since the attendance to the workshop is limited to 30 people (and so far we have received more than 40 pre-registrations) the final list of accepted participants will be available only after August 7.
We have also updated the preliminary program for the meeting, click here for more details.
We hope to see you in La Serena!

first announcement
Since the first and only Chilean Gemini users meeting held in Santiago in 2009, not only the Chilean astronomical community has kept growing at a dazzling pace, but also Gemini South has seen many changes with the commissioning of Flamingos-2, GSAOI and GPI, all of which are operational and delivering exciting new results.
This long overdue meeting will gather current and prospective Gemini users to share their new results using Gemini data, learn about the current and future opportunities with Gemini and stimulate new collaborations.
New instrumentation means new opportunities but also new challenges to the users. The second and third days of this meeting will be a workshop where the participants will learn how to reduce GSAOI and Flamingos-2 images, GMOS-IFU and GMOS-MOS data through guided tutorials and hands-on work led by Gemini staff. The workshop will end with an open session where the participants will be able to bring their own data and discuss issues with Gemini staff.
The science meeting will be held on September 6th at the Anfiteatro #1 of the Departamento de Física y Astronomía of the Universidad de La Serena, while the workshop will be on the same venue the 7th and 8th. There will be no registration fee nor poster sessions. Grad students coming from outside La Serena will receive lodging at no cost, and financial support for travel. Lunch will also be provided for all the workshop attendees. To ensure a fruitful interaction between speakers and participants, the science meeting will be limited to 50 people, while the capacity of the workshop will be limited to 30 people. Preference for the workshop will be given to grad students and early career researchers, especially those working or about to work with Gemini data.
The deadline for registration will be July 20 for those requiring financial support, while August 15 for those not requiring support. The final program will be announced later than month.
We hope to see you in La Serena!
